Comprehensive Eye Examinations
We take pride in performing very thorough examinations on our patients. Our offices are equipped with sophisticated instruments, including automated visual field analyzers, a retinal camera, and corneal topographers. It is our philosphy that our patients deserve the best equipment to help us in providing them with the best possible examination. Patients often remark that they have never had an exam as extensive.

Computerized Contact Lens Evaluations and Fittings
We are so committed to fitting our patients with the best possible contact lens that each office has an advanced corneal topographer. This high-tech instrument color maps 8000 points across the cornea, as opposed to just 4 central points with the standard instrument. With these data, we can more accurately assess the fitting relationship needed for maximum comfort and vision. With this instrument, we very often fit patients who have been told that they could not wear lenses or that have not worn lenses successfully. This is the same instrument that we use to provide care for our refractive surgery patients.

Medical Treatment of Eye Diseases
All of the doctors at Rinkov Eyecare Center are licensed to treat anterior segment eye disease. This includes conjuntivitis, corneal abrasions, infections, glaucoma, eye lid diseases, removing foreign objects from the eye, dry eye problems, as well as many others.

On Site Full-service Laboratory
We are one of the few private practices to have our own on site full service optical laboratory. We recently purchased a new state of the art optical lens generator, enabling us to increase our ability to provide all types of quality lenses in-house. We can even make progressive no-line bifocals. We offer one-hour service for our patients if needed. However, we do not promote this as our primary focus, as the commercial chains do. By producing our glasses in house, we are able to control our quality, processing time, and bypass the middleman to provide savings to our patients.

Sports Vision
Athletes require excellent coordination of the two eyes as well as excellent vision. The ability to smoothly follow or track a baseball or tennis ball is as important as the ability to see the ball crisply. The ability to have a wide field of vision is extremely critical to a quarterback or running back. We have specific exercises and visual corrections to improve these as well as other areas related to improving one’s performance.

Vision Therapy
If your child is doing poorly in school but they are seeing well, he or she might need an assessment of the quality of the ability to use the two eyes together. Oftentimes, children may see well, but may not be achieving in their studies. It could be due to a binocularity probem, where the eyes are not functioning smoothly and efficiently. It may be a problem of being able to focus for a long period of time at a book or other near task. It may be the inability to focus at a near task and then focus at a distance task. It may be the inability for the two eyes to efficiently maintain what is called single, clear, binocular vision.

We commonly find that these are the children who have tutors. However, the tutor may be working against an obstacle that he or she is unaware of, and that is the abilily of the two eyes to comfortably and efficiently focus and follow objects.

A slow reader may be having a problem reading across a page without having to reread the same words more than once. Most of these children are actually very intelligent. Unfortunately, they may have not been diagnosed with a vision coordination problem, as opposed to a vision correction problem.

If this is the case, vision therapy is a form of treatment that could change their life forever. It is basically a series of specific exercises to develop the efficiency of the muscle system of the eyes to allow the system to flow effortlessly, thus alleviating the hindrances and therefore allowing the student to comprehend easier.
